Former Kogi West senator, Dino Melaye, has claimed that President Bola Tinubu does not want elections to hold next year.

Speaking on Channels Television on Thursday morning, Melaye also said the All Progressive Congress, APC, has become so desperate.

He said: “The APC has become so desperate. They have seen that ADC is the only opposition we have in Nigeria to challenge.“They have seen the exodus of people from various political parties into the ADC and they are panicked.

“I’m shocked why they are panicked. You say you have 32 governors, so why are you afraid?“It is not about ADC. It is about democracy. “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu wants to be coronated. He does not want an election.“It is a Kabiyesi mentality.”

Melaye’s comments come hours after INEC removed the names of David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola from its official portal as National Chairman and National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, respectively.

The electoral body also said it will not recognize factions within the party or monitor any conventions or congresses organised by groups aligned with the affected leaders

Court fixes April 14 for Nasir El- Rufai bail hearing

The Department of State Services, DSS, again, on Wednesday took custody of former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, moments after proceedings at the Federal High Court in Kaduna.

It is reported that El-Rufai, standing trial over alleged corruption, had just concluded a hearing on his bail application filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission ICPC, when DSS operatives bundled him into a waiting vehicle and drove him away, reportedly heading to Abuja.

There was a heavy presence of DSS operatives around the court before the hearing, which had fueled speculation that the former governor might be taken into custody.

According to our source, the former Gopvernor of Kaduna state, Nasir El-Rufai had arrived at the court at about 9:05 a.m. in a Hilux van, drawing attention from security personnel and observers.

Meanwhil, Speaking to journalists after the proceedings, lead defence counsel, Oluwole Iyamu, SAN, confirmed that the court had fixed April 14 for ruling on the bail application.

“The bail application was argued and responded to, and the ruling has been fixed for April 14,” he said.

The Nigeria Labour Congress has shut down the offices of Abuja Electricity Distribution in Abuja, Kogi, Nasarawa, and Niger over the mass sacking of over 900 workers.

According to DAILY POST, the Disco’s headquarters in Abuja, areas in the nation’s capital and other offices in Kogi, Minna, Niger, and Nasarawa States are under locks and keys as of Wednesday morning.

This comes a day after the NLC, led by its president, Joe Ajaero, picketed AEDC’s headquarters over the controversial disengagement of nearly 900 workers.

Explaining the crisis, Ajaero said it dates back to about six months when AEDC management claimed the disengagement would affect only workers who had reached retirement age or were on the verge of retiring; however, the reverse was the case.

“At that time, the union intervened based on that understanding. No responsible labour leader would oppose the exit of workers who have legitimately reached retirement age.

“ The majority of those affected were not at retirement age. Some had not even spent up to five or six years in service. In fact, many had only worked for two to three years. That is the height of deceit,” he declared.

“If nothing is done within that time, we cannot guarantee power supply. The workers who keep the system running will stay at home, and if they are not at work, the system will naturally be affected,” he warned.

Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, former Kano State Governor and 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kano. The Former Kano State Governor and the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has announced his resignation from the party with immediate effect.

Kwankwaso disclosed this in a press statement dated March 29, 2026, where he said the decision followed the need for a strategic political realignment amid the evolving dynamics of Nigeria’s political landscape.

He expressed gratitude to the party for the opportunity to serve as its National Leader and presidential candidate during the 2023 general elections, describing the decision to leave the party as a difficult one.

According to him, the current trajectory of the nation’s politics necessitated identifying with another political platform that offers a better opportunity to effectively pursue national change.

“I wish to formally announce my resignation from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) with immediate effect,” the statement read.
