The Carabao Cup fourth round draw has delivered a mix of high-profile clashes and historic encounters, with holders Newcastle set for a blockbuster tie against Tottenham and Wrexham handed a mouthwatering all-Welsh derby against Cardiff City, according to a report by talkSPORT.
Newcastle United, who lifted the trophy last season, will continue their defence at St James’ Park against Spurs in what is expected to be one of the most competitive fixtures of the round. Elsewhere, Premier League champions Liverpool face a tough test as they welcome Crystal Palace to Anfield in a repeat of this year’s Community Shield Final.
Arsenal will host Brighton at the Emirates after both sides comfortably progressed in the previous round, while Manchester City face a tricky away trip to Swansea City. The Championship side booked their place with a shock win over Nottingham Forest, setting up a glamour tie with Pep Guardiola’s men.
However, the standout fixture for many will be the clash between Wrexham and Cardiff City. The Dragons, owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, secured their place with a 2-0 victory over Reading thanks to a Nathan Broadhead brace. Cardiff, meanwhile, advanced with a commanding 3-0 win against Cheltenham.
