According to a report from ESPN on Saturday December 6, 2025, in an interview following Liverpool FC’s 3-3 draw with Leeds United, Mohamed Salah didn’t mince words accusing both the club and wider media of unfair treatment. Frustrated at being benched for a third straight game, the Egyptian superstar said.
“Can I give an example? It’s silly but I am sorry. I remember a while go, Harry Kane was not scoring for ten games, the media were like: ‘Oh, Harry will score for sure.’ When it comes to Mo, everyone is like, ‘He needs to be on the bench.’ I am sorry Harry!”
Salah argued that despite his long-standing contributions, including being one of Liverpool’s most prolific scorers, he’s been treated far more harshly than peers such as Kane even during goal droughts.
He added that after years of commitment to the club and a new contract signed just months ago, he now feels “thrown under the bus,” with no explanation from management for his sudden drop in favour.
Salah’s remarks have reignited speculation about a possible exit from Anfield, with the upcoming game against Brighton & Hove Albion and his impending call-up to the Africa Cup of Nations now cast as potential farewells.
