According to a report by The Vanguard on Thursday, December 11, 2025, ambassadorial nominee Reno Omokri has publicly thanked key members of the Senate following his appearance before the Committee on Foreign Affairs on Thursday.
Shortly after the session, Omokri took to X to appreciate Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, the committee chairman Senator Sani Bello, and other lawmakers who participated in his screening.
He also singled out Senators Adams Oshiomhole and Ali Ndume, who moments earlier engaged in a tense exchange during deliberations on his nomination.
“From the bottom of my heart, I sincerely thank the Distinguished Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, Distinguished Senator Sani Bello, and members of the committee, especially Distinguished Senators Adams Oshiomhole and Ali Ndume,” Omokri wrote.
He extended his gratitude to Delta State senators—Ede Dafinone, Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, and Ned Nwoko—as well as the Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters, Senator Basheer Lado.
According to him, “The Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is indeed a place of honour.”
The warm message followed a dramatic moment on the Senate floor where Oshiomhole and Ndume clashed over procedure, leading to a brief confrontation that drew attention to the screening process.
Despite the back-and-forth, the committee completed its work, and Omokri was cleared alongside other nominees.
The altercation occurred during the second day of screening for President Bola Tinubu’s 65 ambassadorial nominees.
Omokri, seated in the chamber throughout the heated exchange, later praised the lawmakers for their conduct and support.
