A Nigerian man has sparked buzz online for calling out Chioma Adeleke, wife of Afrobeats superstar Davido, over an outfit, The man, Chiedu Ikechukwu, via a now-viral Facebook post, queried Chioma over the cost of her outfit.
‎According to Facebook user, the outfit’s cost is estimated to be equivalent to 14 years of his monthly salary and would feed thousands of individuals for 3 months.

‎”Do you know that the cost of your outfit is my 14 years salary, How will you be wearing outfit that can feed 5,000 people for 3 months”, The post reads in part.

‎Expressing displeasure, he urged Chioma to opt for cheaper outfits stating, “Why wasting money on clothes you can buy in Aba, Onitsha, Okirika for a cheaper amount as low as 10k, Chef Chi please learn to manage and economize 🙄”.

Additonally, a government official, Ossai Ovie Success described Chioma’s outfit as ‘half-naked’.

‎It would be recalled that last year, Chioma Adeleke faced intense backlash over her outfit at the 68th Grammy Awards.

She wore a sheer dress that drew mixed reactions, with netizens praising her confidence and others criticizing it as inappropriate.

‎Amid the backlash, Chioma responded, emphasizing,”I will wear it again“.

FIFA Adds New Regulations To The 2026 World Cup Matches

FIFA has confirmed five major changes to the regulations for the 2026 World Cup, including giving VAR even more power.

With football fans across the world focused on the final matches of domestic leagues, it is easy to forget that the 2026 World Cup is now less than three months away.

This summer’s World Cup will be the biggest ever tournament with a record 48 teams heading to the United States, Canada and Mexico to compete for the most famous trophy in football.

Before a ball has even been kicked, there has been plenty of drama surrounding the World Cup given the current political climate, with the most recent concerns surrounding Iran’s participation in the competition amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

But it’s not just drama off of the pitch that could impact the World Cup this year, as FIFA have announced that five new regulations will be introduced this summer that may have a huge impact on every match.

According to Argentine Journalist Gaston Edul, FIFA is introducing several new rules to crack down on time-wasting late in matches and to better deal with disciplinary issues.

The first of these new rules relates to quicker substitutions, with players leaving the pitch required to do so in 10 seconds, stopping them from deliberately walking off slowly while their team is ahead.

If they take longer, their replacement must wait one minute before entering, temporarily leaving their team with one fewer player.

The timings of throw-ins and goal kicks will also come under tighter scrutiny under the new regulations, with officials enforce a five-second time limit for both.

Failure to restart the match within this limit will now result in possession being handed to the opposition.

The final change related to time-wasting will see any player receiving medical attention on the field leave the pitch after they have recovered, where they will wait one minute before returning.

Only if the injury was caused by a foul sanctioned with a card will a player be allowed to return to play immediately.

But it’s not just time-wasting being targeted, as FIFA have now granted VAR the ability to review second yellow cards that lead to a red, as well as incorrectly awarded corner kicks.

Finally, the new regulations state that only the captain of a team can approach the referee to request explanations, any other player who surrounds the official may be sanctioned with a yellow card.

The Chief Technical Adviser to the Minister of Power, Adebayo Olowoniyi, has said Nigerians should begin to see gradual improvement in electricity supply as maintenance work on a major gas pipeline approaches completion

Olowoniyi stated this on Thursday while appearing on Arise Television, noting that full restoration of gas supply to power plants is expected within the next two weeks.

His remarks come days after the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, publicly apologised to Nigerians over the persistent electricity outages that have affected homes, businesses and industries across the country.

Defending the minister’s action, Olowoniyi said the apology demonstrated leadership rather than an admission of personal responsibility.

“I think, first of all, I’d like to start with the apology from the Honourable Minister, which we believe is all about taking leadership in the sector,” he said.

Not necessarily directly his fault for the challenges that we have, but as the Minister of Power, he just took—it was the right leadership step to say, okay, I take ownership of this issue, and I’m going to prefer a solution that would ensure power supply comes back in the shortest available time.”

Olowoniyi explained that the recent electricity shortages were largely caused by maintenance work on a key gas pipeline that supplies fuel to several power plants

According to him, Nigeria’s electricity generation is heavily dependent on gas.

“One of the major gas pipelines in Nigeria was undergoing maintenance, and gradually that process is being completed,” he said.

He added that once gas pressure is fully restored, power plants would be able to resume production at their previous levels.

“We’re sure that within the next two weeks, full gas pressure will be back on the gas pipelines, and the power plants will be able to get enough gas at least to go back to their level of generation that they had in the last two to three months,” he said.

The power ministry official expressed optimism that signs of improvement had already begun to emerge.

“I would already say that from yesterday, we would have gradually started to see some improvement as the pressure on the pipeline gradually starts to build up, and we will see continuous improvement over the next couple of weeks,” he said.

Earlier on Tuesday in Abuja, Adelabu told Nigerians that the outages were caused by factors beyond the government’s immediate control but assured that power supply would improve soon.

“I can tell you, with the committee that we have set up, and commitments from gas suppliers, and the timeline for repair of the gas pipelines, two weeks from now we should start seeing improvements in supply,” the minister said.

He also reiterated the Federal Government’s plan to increase electricity generation to 6,000 megawatts before the end of 2026, describing the current situation as a temporary disruption.

Nigeria Government Doesn’t Want Me To Contest in 2027 General Election: Peter Obi

Former presidential candidate and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Peter Obi, has alleged that the Federal Government is working to prevent him from participating in the 2027 presidential election.

Obi made the allegation while calling for a transparent and credible electoral process.

Addressing a group of Nigerians in a video, Obi spoke about his political journey, reflecting on past challenges.

He noted that he has endured political isolation and legal battles.

“I have been in this very difficult business where people abandoned you completely for one election. I spent three years in court and no one followed me there.

“I have been impeached, returned to my village where no one wanted to see me, and removed from office twice,” he said.

He added that such experiences have prepared him for future challenges.

“So there is nothing I will not see again. All these things being said about me are not new,” he stated.

Obi further claimed that there are efforts by the Federal Government to stop his presidential ambition in 2027.

“The Federal Government of Nigeria does not want me to contest in the 2027 presidential election. We are not asking for much. They already have the governors and ministers; we are only asking for a free and fair election,” he said.

He also suggested that those in power have greater access to influential networks.

Senegal Rejects CAF Decision

The Senegalese Football Federation has rejected the decision of the Confederation of African Football Appeal Board awarding the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title to Morocco and confirmed it will challenge the ruling at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Morocco were on Tuesday crowned champions of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after the Confederation of African Football Appeal Board overturned the result of the final against Senegal, ruling that the West African side forfeited the match following a walk-off during the game in Rabat on January 19.

CAF stated that “the Senegal national team is declared to have forfeited the final match of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025, with the result recorded as 3–0 in favour of the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football.”

The decision followed a protest by Morocco after chaotic scenes late in the final, when Senegal players briefly left the pitch after a disallowed goal and a penalty awarded to the hosts, an action the appeal board ruled fell under Articles 82 and 84 of the competition regulations on misconduct and forfeiture.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Fédération Sénégalaise de Football said it had taken note of the decision delivered by CAF’s Appeal Committee in case DC23316, which followed a complaint filed during match 52 of the TotalEnergies AFCON Morocco 2025 final between Senegal and Morocco.

“The Senegalese Football Federation has today taken note of the notification of the decision rendered on March 17, 2026 by the Appeals Committee of the Confederation of African Football, in the context of case DC23316,” the statement read.

The federation said the appeal board declared admissible the protest lodged by the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football and overturned the earlier decision of the CAF Disciplinary Board, citing a procedural flaw in the initial hearing.

“With this decision, the CAF Appeals Board declared the appeal of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation admissible and accepted it.

In doing so, the board overturned the decision rendered by the CAF Disciplinary Board, on the grounds that the appellant’s right to be heard had not been respected during the initial proceedings,” the FSF said.

According to the statement, the appeal committee ruled that the conduct of the Senegal national team fell under Articles 82 and 84 of the Africa Cup of Nations regulations, leading to the forfeiture decision.

“The Appeals Committee also determined that the conduct of the Senegalese team fell under Articles 82 and 84 of the Africa Cup of Nations Regulations.

“Consequently, CAF declared that the FSF had violated Article 82 and awarded the match by forfeit, with a recorded score of 3–0 in favor of the FRMF, in accordance with Article 84,” the federation stated.

Reacting to the verdict, the Senegalese federation criticised the decision, describing it as damaging to the credibility of African football.

“The Senegalese Football Federation denounces an unfair, unprecedented and unacceptable decision that discredits African football,” the statement added.

The federation confirmed that it would file an appeal before the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland.

“To defend its rights and the interests of Senegalese football, the Federation will initiate, as soon as possible, an appeal procedure before the Court of Arbitration for Sport,” the statement said.

The FSF added that it remained committed to due process and would continue to inform the public as the case progresses.

“The FSF reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the values of integrity and sporting justice, and will keep the public informed of the follow-up to this matter,” the statement concluded.
