The buzz started after a purported court petition allegedly filed by Adekunle Gold was shared by a Facebook user and was circulated on other platforms.

The fake document claimed he sought divorce because Simi “orders him around,” creating a “toxic environment” of suppression and lack of respect, with one viral twist quoting him saying he “can’t marry a woman that controls [his] life.”

False divorce papers
This comes amid the intense backlash Simi has been facing on X for weeks over her decade old tweets that has also caught the attention of organizations like NAPTIP and Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency.

However, credible reports quickly debunked it as fabricated “Oluwole” (fake) paperwork—errors included wrong suit numbers and wrong wedding date.

Netizens split between spreading the rumor for entertainment, defending the pair’s marriage, and mocking the gullibility of sharers.

Iran’s New Leader Rejected Negotiation With Trump Over -Arafa

In a strongly worded message released Tuesday morning published on various social media platforms, Arafa declared that diplomacy had ended and warned Washington that it had crossed a “red line.”

Iran’s newly declared Supreme Leader, Alireza Arafa, has issued a fiery statement vowing retaliation against the United States and Israel following what Tehran describes as an unprovoked military assault on its territory.

In a strongly worded message released Tuesday morning published on various social media platforms, Arafa declared that diplomacy had ended and warned Washington that it had crossed a “red line.”

“The time for negotiations is over. The United States has chosen to cross the red line, the line of irreparable harm,” he said.

“By launching this war, they have signed their own death warrant: they don’t know when or how the axe will fall, but we hold the reins.”

The statement comes days after coordinated US and Israeli airstrikes reportedly targeted Iranian military installations and strategic infrastructure, marking a dramatic escalation in already fraught relations between Tehran, Washington and Tel Aviv.

The strikes followed months of mounting tension over Iran’s regional influence, missile development and alleged nuclear activities.

Washington has long accused Tehran of backing armed proxy groups across the Middle East and destabilising the region — accusations Iranian officials have repeatedly denied.

The latest military action was widely described by Iranian authorities as “unprovoked,” with officials insisting that Iran had not initiated hostilities.

Arafa dismissed Western claims that the strikes were pre-emptive measures against a nuclear threat.

“They brandish the nuclear specter like a scarecrow, blinded by their arrogance,” he said.

“They have no idea of the true extent of our power or what we are prepared to unleash.”

US Congresswoman Ilhan Omar has stirred controversy after posting a strong statement on social media regarding past and potential US military actions in the Middle East.

In her tweet, Omar said that Iraq was attacked by the United States during Ramadan and claimed it is “sickening” to think that the US might again strike Iran during the holy month. She further alleged that the US “apparently loves to strike Muslim countries during Ramadan” and suggested that such actions are not about violations of international law but about “who they worship.”

Amend Contitution To Make Room For State Police- FG

  • The Senate to amend Nigeria’s constitution to make provision for state police.

President Bola Tinubu has urged the Senate to amend Nigeria’s constitution to make provision for state police.

Tinubu made the plea during an interfaith breaking of fast (Iftar) with senators at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday evening.

The President, who said his administration is facing challenges posed by banditry, terrorism and insurgency, expressed the belief that state police could provide the solution to the problem.

“We are facing terrorism, banditry, and insurgency. But we will never fail to make a right response to this cause. What I will ask for tonight is for you (senators) to start thinking how best to amend the constitution to incorporate the state police for us to secure our country, take over our forests from marauders, and free our children from fear.

“I have a lot of credit for bold reforms. Without your collaboration and inspiration, those reforms would not be possible. We are reformists together.

“What we gave up and what we stopped is monumental corruption in the subsidy system.

“We don’t want to participate in monumental corruption and arbitrage foreign exchange.

“You don’t have to chase me for dollars; you could see what Nigeria is today. You should be proud, and I am glad you are. What we are enjoying is a stable economy, and prosperity is beckoning us. We need to work hard, and this attendance means a lot to me,” Tinubu told the lawmakers.

N835 Million Contributed To Finance Alleged Coup – Defence Headquarters

Last month, the Defence Headquarters announced it had concluded investigations into an alleged plot to overthrow Bola Tinubu and forwarded its findings to the appropriate authorities.

According to an exclusive report by Premium Times, investigators traced about N835 million allegedly used to finance the conspiracy to two private companies.

Former Bayelsa State Governor Timipre Sylva is accused of providing N785 million through Purple Waves Limited, an Abuja-based construction firm. The company’s secretary, John Ebokpo, has reportedly been arrested, while Mr Sylva—who denies any involvement—remains at large.

A second individual, Moses Zakwa, allegedly transferred N50 million through Clay Ring Services Limited, a Lagos-based company where he is listed as a director. Efforts to reach company officials were unsuccessful.

The military said its findings implicated several officers and described the alleged conduct as contrary to the professional standards of the Armed Forces. About 40 suspects—including senior military officers, a police officer, and civilians—are reportedly in detention following a covert operation coordinated by the Army Headquarters and the State Security Service. Some civilians are also being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

According to PREMIUM TIMES, sources said the alleged plot was initially conceived around the May 29, 2023 presidential inauguration but was abandoned due to funding and logistical challenges before being revived in 2025. Authorities are reportedly awaiting presidential approval to set up a court-martial for the implicated officers.

Gabriel Magalhaes Mocked Richarlison After Defeat

Gabriel Magalhaes mocked Tottenham Hotspur and Richarlison on Instagram after Arsenal secured a dominant win in the north London derby. The defender was heavily involved in several controversial moments during the match. His post-match social media activity quickly drew attention following the heated encounter.

Arsenal claimed an emphatic 4–1 victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The result mirrored the scoreline from the earlier derby meeting this season. The win pushed the Gunners five points clear at the top of the Premier League table. They have played one game more than Manchester City.

The match included a major flashpoint involving Gabriel. Tottenham thought they had equalised when Randal Kolo Muani found the net with Spurs trailing by one goal. However, the strike was ruled out after the forward was judged to have pushed Gabriel in the build-up.

Television replays suggested the contact was minimal. Tottenham’s interim boss Igor Tudor reacted angrily on the touchline. He appeared to signal that Gabriel had exaggerated the incident. Some Spurs supporters also argued online that the Arsenal defender should have received a red card earlier in the first half for bringing down Kolo Muani as the last man.

Despite the controversy, the key decisions went in Arsenal’s favour. Gabriel later took to Instagram to celebrate and provoke his rivals. He posted a photo from the team bus while holding his Player of the Match award. He also displayed a four of hearts card alongside snacks and a drink. The Brazilian tagged Richarlison in the post, continuing their ongoing social media rivalry.

After the match, Mikel Arteta expressed pride in his team’s performance. The Arsenal manager said the victory showed the squad’s character after a difficult run of form. He urged his players to maintain consistency and keep building momentum in the title race.

BREAKING: DSS Fixed February 25 To Arraign Nasir El-Rufai

The Department of State Services (DSS) has filed a three-count criminal charge against former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, over alleged cybercrime and breach of national security. The News Agency of Nigeria reported that El-Rufai will be arraigned on February 25 before the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Justice Joyce Abdulmalik fixed the date after the Chief Judge of the court, Justice John Tsoho, assigned the case to her.

The charge, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/99/2026, was instituted by the DSS, also known as the Nigerian secret police.

According to court documents, the security agency accused El-Rufai of unlawfully intercepting the telephone communications of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

The DSS alleged that on February 13, while appearing as a guest on Arise TV’s Prime Time Programme in Abuja, the former governor admitted that he and his associates intercepted the NSA’s phone communications.

The offence is said to be contrary to Section 12(1) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Amendment Act, 2024.

In the second count, El-Rufai was accused of admitting during the same television interview that he knew an individual who unlawfully intercepted the NSA’s communications but failed to report the matter to relevant security agencies. The charge is said to be punishable under Section 27(b) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Amendment Act, 2024.

Count three alleged that El-Rufai and others still at large, sometime in 2026 in Abuja, used technical equipment or systems that compromised public safety and national security by unlawfully intercepting the NSA’s communications.

The DSS said the act was contrary to Section 131(2) of the Nigerian Communications Act, 2003.

Recall that during the Arise TV interview, El-Rufai claimed he overheard Ribadu directing security operatives to detain him.

He linked the alleged directive to what he described as an attempted arrest at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on February 12 upon his return from Cairo, Egypt.

The development comes amid a series of legal troubles for the former governor.

He was earlier detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over alleged corruption.

Though granted administrative bail around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, he was reportedly taken into custody immediately by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission.

Confirming the development, ICPC spokesperson, John Odey, said in a message circulated on a journalists’ WhatsApp group: “Malam Nasiru El-Rufai is in the custody of the commission in connection with ongoing investigations
