Chippa United head coach, Vusumizi Vilakazi has lamented Stanley Nwabali’s exit from the club as reported by Daily Post.

Nwabali announced his departure from the South African club this week.

The 29-year-old was on the books of the Chilli Boys for four years.

The shot stopper’s departure came as a surprise to many due to his status at the club.

Vilakazi declared that Nwabali’s departure is a big blow for his team.

“It is definitely a blow for us, considering what Stanley achieved in Morocco,” Vilakazi told Sportswire.

“Obviously, his decision and everything surrounding it did not involve me.”

Woman Returned From Abroad After 7 Years To Claim 3 Months Old Abandoned Baby

A woman’s emotional appeal to regain custody of her daughter has sparked intense debate on social media, following revelations about her decision to abandon the child years ago to travel abroad.

According to a viral account circulating online, the woman admitted she got married when she wasn’t ready and became pregnant within three months.

She later gave birth to a baby girl. Unknown to her husband and family at the time, she was secretly processing travel documents to relocate to Canada while still living in her matrimonial home.

Her visa was eventually approved, but the arrangement required her to travel alone. At that point, her baby was reportedly just three months old.

The woman went ahead with the journey, leaving the infant behind without informing her husband or relatives. It was gathered that no one in her family was aware she had travelled out of Nigeria.

Years later, the woman is said to be financially stable and doing well in Canada. In January, she returned to Nigeria with the intention of reconnecting with her daughter, who is now seven years old.

However, the child’s father allegedly refused to grant her access to the girl.

The situation reportedly escalated when the woman discovered that her husband had remarried without her consent and had also hidden the child from her.

Efforts to seek help from her own family were unsuccessful, as they allegedly declined to intervene

Now, the woman is said to be exploring legal options to reclaim custody of her daughter, with plans to take the child back to Canada.

Since her return to Nigeria, she has reportedly been unable to see or speak with the child.

The case has divided public opinion online. While some sympathised with her desire to reconnect with her daughter, others strongly criticised her actions.

One social media user openly supported the husband’s decision, accusing the woman of selfishness and abandonment.

“A baby you left at three months can also be left again,” the commenter wrote, arguing that the woman used her marriage to achieve her travel goals and failed in her responsibilities as a mother.

I Don’t Even Go To The Clubs These Days-Davido

Singer David Adeleke, aka Davido, has revealed that his priorities have evolved following his marriage to long-term partner, Chioma Adeleke.

Speaking in a recent episode of The Long Form podcast, Davido said he now prefers staying at home with his family or FaceTiming with his wife when he’s on trips, to going to club for leisure.

“Blowing up at a young age with freedom, power and money, I used to be very reckless. I used to go to the club everyday.

“But these days, I don’t even go to the clubs. I was in Nigeria for almost two months and I didn’t go out. I was just at home and I was having fun. I was just chilling in my studio, and inviting people to make barbecue for me. It was fun. And before you know it, it’s 3 am or 4:30 am. I just go home, call my wife, sleep off on FaceTime,” he expressed.

Davido, however, explained that he still goes out for gigs and honours party invitations from close people.

He added that he now prioritise sleep and family time over going out for fun

Omotola Jalade, a famous Nigerian actress has addressed the alleged feud with her colleague, Genevieve Nnaji. Following a report from DAILY POST, it is widely believed that the movie stars were not in good terms.

Presidency Reacts To Singer Nanya’s Death

The Presidency has urged Nigerians to take extra measures to prevent snakes from invading their environments.

The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Economic Affairs, Tope Fasua, stated this on Monday, February 2, while reacting to the death of popular Abuja singer, Ifunanya Nwangene, fondly called Nanya.

Fasua also spoke on anti-venom shortages which many attributed to the singer’s death.

While sympathising with the deceased’s family for the loss, he wrote, “We are in snake season. When there is heat, they come out. They sunbathe. Then they like hiding inside houses. They live in ecosystems. They also never work together. So, seeing two inside one room is really odd. They snack on each other,” Fasua said.

Ifunanya, also fondly called the “Soprano Queen”, died on Saturday after she was reportedly bitten by a Cobra at her residence in Lugbe, a surburb of the Federal Capital Territory.

The incident, which occurred in the early hours of the day, has since sparked intense public debate, with many Nigerians questioning how a preventable death could happen in the nation’s capital if life-saving anti-venom medications are available.

The singer reportedly booked her rider to Divine Health Hospital, located at the Trade Fair Mall in Lugbe but she was allegedly told that the facility did not have anti-venom and could not treat her. She proceeded to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Jabi, afterwards at about 10 a.m.

Speaking further on the incident, Fasua said, “Not everything is politics. Your whining candidate will not provide anti venom for all hospitals, private and public. Presidents are not for petty work but big policies. A president is not a medicine hawker. If he’s going around weeping with every mourner and checking every hospital for anti-venom, he won’t have time to think. And what about other lifesaving drug? How many will we pursue?” he said.

He urged Nigerians to keep their environment safe from snake.

“If you have rats or toads around or thick carpet bushes, you are creating an ecosystem. Block under your door. And invest in fumigation at times like this especially. Jack your landlord to do the needful or cooperate with other tenants. Dogs can also help. They kill snakes. Cats don’t. Keep learning. Open your eyes always to notice creepy crawlers. Stay clean. Keep places lighted too,” he added.

Davido Joins Fela’s Family To Receives GRAMMY Lifetime Award

Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has joined the Fela Anikulapo-Kuti family at the GRAMMY Honors Party in Los Angeles, held in celebration of the late Afrobeat pioneer.

The event marked Fela’s posthumous receipt of the GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement Award, making him the first African artist to be honoured.

Videos shared on Instagram by Davido’s logistics manager, Israel DMW, showed the singer alongside Fela’s children, Femi and Yeni Kuti, and other members of his team at the ceremony.

Sharing clips from the event, Israel DMW wrote, “A night for late Fela Anikulapo-Kuti. Abami Eda of the universe. Outside LA.”

FCT Workers Shun Court Order To Suspend Strike

The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, striking unions have continued their industrial action despite a court order compelling them to resume work.

DAILY POST reports that the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA workers under the Joint Union Action Committee, JUAC on January 19 began an indefinite strike over unresolved welfare concerns.

JUAC embarked on the industrial action to appeal for urgent action to resolve the welfare issues affecting their “morale and productivity”

DAILY POST reports that the Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, and the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, joined the strike on Monday in solidarity with their counterparts at the FCTA and the FCDA.

Among other things, the workers are demanding for the payment of five-month wage awards, outstanding 2023 and 2024 promotion arrears; full payment of 13 months’ hazard allowance and 22 months’ rural allowance for health workers.

Other demands include remittance of pension and National Housing Fund deductions; stoppage of intimidation of workers; improved staff welfare and working conditions.

The National Industrial Court in Abuja had on Tuesday ordered the FCTA workers to suspend the strike pending further hearing in a suit brought by the FCT authorities to stop the industrial action.

Judge Emmanuel Subilim issued the order in a ruling on an application filed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and the FCTA.

A court document sighted by our correspondent on Wednesday shows that the suit has Wike and FCTA as claimants, while the leaders of the striking unions, Rifkatu Iortyer and Abdullahi Umar Saleh are defendants.

The document, dated Tuesday, 27th January, 2026, and signed by the Registrar, indicated that the application before the court was for “an Order of injunction to restrain the Defendants in the manner sought on the face of the Motion paper”.

Strike continues

DAILY POST reports that despite the order of the industrial court, the FCT workers are yet to resume work.

A check by DAILY POST on Wednesday showed that most healthcare facilities and schools across the Bwari Area Council are still under lock and key.

Students at the Government Day Secondary School, Dutse Alhaji, Junior Secondary School, Ushafa and LEA Primary School, Ushafa were asked to go home as early as 8 am.

An official at the Ushafa LEA Primary school told DAILY POST on condition of anonymity that there was no memo indicating that the strike has been called off.

According to him, the court order only mandated the union leaders to resume and not the entire workers.

“The order was only for Rifkatu Iortyer and Abdullahi Umar Saleh and I believe they have resumed”, he said.

Those who declared strike have resumed – Wike’s media aide, Olayinka

When contacted by DAILY POST on Wednesday, Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and New Media to the FCT Minister said those who declared the strike have resumed.

According to him, workers who are yet to resume may not have been properly informed on suspension of the strike.

He said, “The strike was not declared by the NUT. Those who declared the strike have resumed. They were in their offices today.

“If other people have not resumed, maybe they have not gotten the correct information. I’m sure that by tomorrow (today) they should be at work”.

Mourinho Slams Critics After Real Madrid Defeat

Former Chelsea and Manchester United boss, Jose Mourinho, has slammed his critics following Benfica’s victory over Real Madrid in the Champions League group stage match on Wednesday night.

He said he hopes his critics were not committing suicide jumping off balconies when they saw his team’s performance against the Spanish big teams.

Benfica defeated Real Madrid with a score of 4-2 and advanced to the Champions League knockout play-offs.

The game in Lisbon was really thrilling, and Real Madrid scored first when Kylian Mbappe netted in the 30th minute.

Andreas Schjelderup and Vangelis Pavlidis both scored goals, giving the home team a 3-1 advantage, but Mbappe then scored to cut Real’s deficit to just one goal.

The Spaniards needed to draw the game in order to have a chance of advancing to the top eight in the Champions League.

Benfica thought they were already in the top 24 and would make the play-offs, but after seeing other results, they needed one more goal to improve their goal difference and make it through.

Raul Asencio and Rodrygo received red cards towards the end of the game for Real Madrid.

In the last few minutes of the game, Benfica earned a free-kick just before the match ended.

Their goalkeeper, Anatoliy Trubin, left his goal to get the ball and headed it into the net, scoring the key fourth goal in the 98th minute.

Benfica are 10 points behind the leading team in the Primeira Liga, Porto and for this Mourinho has been facing some pressure, but he took the opportunity to address the criticism following their fantastic victory.

Transfer: Coventry City favourites to sign Onyeka

Coventry City are leading the race for the signature of Brentford star Frank Onyeka, DAILY POST reports.

According to BBC football journalist, Nizaar Kinsella, Coventry City want to wrap up the deal before the end of the current transfer window.

Onyeka has struggled for regular playing time at Brentford this season,

The Nigeria international has made nine appearances across all competitions for the Bees, and is yet to start a game in the Premier League.

The 28-year-old is desperate for more regular playing time, hence his desire to seek a move elsewhere.
