Three Players That Far Better Than Ronaldo: Fabio Capello

Former England manager, Fabio Capello has named three football icons he feels are better than Al-Nassr forward Cristiano Ronaldo.

According to Capello, the likes of Lionel Messi, Diego Maradona, and Ronaldo Nazario are above the level of Ronaldo.

The former Real Madrid coach believes the Portugal captain cannot be compared to the trio because of their genius ability, which he [Ronaldo] lacks.

Speaking recently on Egyptian outlet ON Sport’s Hat-trick program, Capello said: “Cristiano [Ronaldo] is a great goalscorer and an incredible athlete, but he doesn’t have the genius of Messi, Maradona or Ronaldo Nazario.

“That genius that the others possessed is absent in Cristiano. He can’t be compared to those three.”

Ronaldo, meanwhile, had labelled himself as the greatest footballer of all time. The 41-year-old has netted 961 career goals so far.

Tottenham Hotspur Head Coach Thomas Frank Is Sacked

It has been confirmed that another Premier League manager, Thomas Frank of Tottenham, has been sacked.

Tottenham Hotspur have officially relieved head coach Thomas Frank of his duties, ending a turbulent eight-month tenure that has left the North London club precariously close to the Premier League relegation zone.

The decision was confirmed on Wednesday morning following a dismal 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle United on Tuesday night. The result served as the “final straw” for the Spurs board, as the club remains winless in the Premier League for the duration of 2026.

Despite a promising start after his move from Brentford in June 2025, Frank struggled to maintain momentum amidst a mounting injury crisis. At the time of his departure, the Dane was dealing with 11 first-team injuries, including a long-term ankle issue for star striker Dominic Solanke.

While Spurs found some success in the Champions League—securing a place in the last 16—their domestic form has been catastrophic:

  • Current Standing: 16th place, just five points above the relegation zone.
  • Home Form: Only two league wins at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium all season.
  • Recent Run: Winless in their last eight Premier League matches.

The atmosphere at the stadium turned “toxic” during the Newcastle loss, with fans repeatedly chanting for Frank’s dismissal and booing the team off the pitch. Earlier in the week, Frank had remained defiant, stating he was “1,000% sure” he was the right man for the job and citing studies that suggest sacking managers mid-season is often counterproductive.

However, with a high-stakes North London Derby against Arsenal looming, the Spurs hierarchy felt a change was necessary to avoid a genuine scrap for survival.

The club has yet to announce a permanent successor, though rumours are already swirling around several high-profile names:

  1. Mauricio Pochettino: The former Spurs boss, currently leading the USA national team, remains the romantic favourite among the supporters.
  2. Roberto De Zerbi: Recently linked with the job after his departure from Marseille.
  3. John Heitinga: Currently on the coaching staff, Heitinga is expected to take interim charge for the immediate future.

Frank, who never suffered a sacking during his successful seven-year stint at Brentford, becomes the fifth permanent manager to leave Tottenham since 2019
